The Job

The Financial Analyst is part of a small in-house financial control team responsible for AVEVA SAS France.

Core responsibilities of a Financial Analyst include full accounting and tax compliance in line with local French regulations, which are complex and ever changing. The role requires in depth knowledge of local French accounting principles and tax law, with a great deal of hands-on experience in managing key processes, such as VAT returns and e-invoicing requirements.

Good controllership at AVEVA means a focus on the accuracy of our data, thorough understanding of the balance sheet, adherence to internal controls, timely reporting of results to Group, and engagement with the wider Finance Operations team to continuously improve our processes and controls.

Responsibilities

Accounting

  • Support the Finance Manager during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities; prepare accruals, reclassifications, reallocations, etc., as necessary
  • Support the Finance Manager in all reporting activities, including priority items, Contract Assets and Liabilities, etc.
  • Review and correct purchase orders and goods receipts to ensure smooth booking of supplier invoices
  • Ensure the coding of supplier invoices is in line with local accounting principles and tax regulations
  • Review of costs in accordance with the master chart of accounts and dimensional structure of the Group
  • Properly account for differences in accounting principles to ensure compliance with local tax regulations and facilitate statutory compliance
  • Work closely with all relevant teams to implement and keep up to date the e-invoicing processes from an accounting perspective, and achieve full compliance with applicable local regulations
  • Review of intercompany and related party transactions, ensuring all intercompany transactions are recorded and netted off in accordance with group instructions
  • Review of the fixed asset register and transactions
  • Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and review of significant accounting judgements
  • Relationship with the shared service centre (SSC): act as the primary point of contact for key finance processes such as Record to Report, Purchase to Pay and Invoice to Cash ; review the deliverables, such as reconciliations (BS, AR, AP, FA) ; ensure the service delivered is fully in line with local regulatory and statutory requirements ; participate in reviews (e.g., BS review calls, cash collections calls) and make recommendations, follow-up on the implementation of action plans ; assist in processing non-standard transactions

Tax

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory tax requirements in France including, but not limited to, e-invoicing (AR and AP), reconciliation and monthly, quarterly, and annual returns for all taxes, including CIT, VAT, WHT, regional and communal taxes
  • Participate in the implementation of new developments (tools, processes) to ensure continuous compliance with the ever-changing statutory requirements in France
  • Support the Finance Manager for the preparation and submission of Transfer Pricing local files, in conjunction with external service providers (e.g., Deloitte)

Treasury

  • Prepare and review the weekly cashflow and cash forecast with the Finance Manager; submit funding requests/loans to Group Treasury as required
  • Review the payment proposal, including payments to suppliers and to employees (expense claims), and make recommendations before it is submitted to the Finance Manager for approval

Compliance

  • Ensuring compliance with the Group’s minimum internal control framework, and enhancing those controls where necessary
  • Preparation for internal audit and responding to requests
  • Lead External audit liaison and compliance
  • Support the Finance Manager and the external service provider in the drafting of the statutory audited financial statements
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements in terms of e-archiving, safekeeping of accounting records, and filing of expense claim receipts

Projects

  • Take part in the timely and successful execution of projects, from a finance perspective (e.g., LERP, Concur, Oracle)
  • Ensure all local accounting, statutory, and tax requirements are fully met and implemented during all projects
  • Support the Finance Manager in managing the Corporate Credit Card program

Skills & Qualifications

  • Licence’s level (BAC+3) in Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with an emphasis on accounting, partly gained within one audit/CPA firm and preferably combined with an experience of working for a medium to large international company
  • Knowledge of French GAAP and IFRS
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to deep dive into data, existing processes, people in order to identify issues and opportunities – in-depth experience with Controlling concepts
  • Meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and stress resistance
  • Strong team player, who can operate globally, cross-functionally, taking ownership and demonstrating self-initiative (hands-on approach)
  • Fluent French required (verbal/written) & Advanced English (verbal/written)
  • Comprehensive use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Oracle Financial Applications would be a plus
