Events Manager Assistant/ Operations Assistant chez Château de Méridon

The Château de Méridon is looking for its newest addition!

We have been operating as a wedding & professional events venue since 2013.

In 2022, a new direction was created for the Château de Méridon and after extensive renovations to upgrade our services and venue, the Château de Méridon now operates as a luxury events destination for private and professional celebrations/seminars, as well as an exclusive vacation establishment for a selective group of individuals.

From luxury weddings to scenographies, to themed business seminars and immersive experiences, to movie and photoshoot sets, the Château de Méridon is growing its customer base and increasing its range of events happening there.

To help us grow strong and efficient, we are looking for an Event Manager/Operations Assistant.

Our new team member will join us in managing logistics for all our events, preparing all required documents, liaising with all collaborators, being a driving force and the day of each event from start to finish, and supervising each event’s dismantling.

This is a 6 to 12-month internship, we’re thus looking for someone with ambitious goals, leading skills, a quick learner who can work autonomously and in teams. The candidate also wants to further grow in the luxury events management/hospitality industry.

For this Events Manager/Operations Assistant position, you will assist one of the Events managers in their project management, from ideation to completion, at the Château. Once you feel ready to grow on your own, we will let you manage B2B & B2C projects.

Your Responsibilities :

  • Once the contract is signed, you will follow up on events projects, under the Events Manager’s supervision.
  • You will be asked to send quotes to external vendors and collaborators.
  • Meetings with clients, technical meetings with vendors, meetings reports. Meetings can be done at the Château, online, or over the phone depending on our clients’ locations and availability. Flexibility is key
  • You will follow our planning guidelines and establish a planning for all your accounts, and act as a safeguard of its deadlines. Especially for B2B events at the Château. This means you will have to make a call or two to clients and/or external vendors. If you have a hard time taking the phone, let’s be honest here – this position is not for you
  • You will liaise between clients and vendors on different aspects of the projects (legal/admin documents, logistics, payments, informational documents, catering, etc…), and regularly over the whole project period until DDay. Often, our clients (especially wedding couples) want us to have a creative input in the decoration, vendor recommendations – we love being part of their projects!
  • On DDay, you will be on the ground to oversee logistics/vendors, and make sure all goes according to plan
  • The team at Château de Méridon being small, we are all multitasking and can handle different roles. We are looking to hire someone who wishes to grow, to take on more responsibilities, and potentially work with Méridon in the future as an Event planner
  • You have a Social Media appetite? A creative mind? A love for collages and scenography? We love this and would be more than interested to have you create inspiring visuals for the Château de Méridon!

Qualifications & soft skills :

The ideal candidate would be a French & English-speaking student looking for his End-Of-Study Internship in the Events/Hospitality industry before joining a company as an Event Manager, someone who’s already had previous experiences in this field, is super organized, who doesn’t mind being hands-on and moving chairs/tables, with an upbeat attitude and always looking for solutions rather than dwelling on issues. Working in Events & Hospitality means carrying furniture around, running up and down the stairs (especially at the Château, lots of hallways, gardens, and areas to check before guests’ arrival), the candidate will be energetic and physically able to lift objects and furniture.

  • It is necessary for the candidate to have excellent writing skills in French & English, and to speak both languages at least professionally.
  • The candidate is a quick learner whom doesn’t need to be micromanaged; s.he is proactive and always on the move, whether on the ground or online working on Château projects.
  • Finding creative solutions to last-minute challenges, being resourceful & act as a leader, while always ensuring that the outcome is always up to our standards at Château de Méridon.
  • It is also necessary for the candidate to have great organizational skills.
